![]() ![]() ![]() The flicker is a Native American spirit animal that signifies the protector of Women. The Northern Flicker is the Mama Bird Mascot/logo, as it is a local bird that arrives in the Spring and visits again in the Fall, reminding us of the beginning and ending of our seasons. Over the years we have slowly built roads, a processing facility, greenhouses, brought in power, drilled a well, along with growing produce and flowers for our community. Mama Bird started out as raw land, an open field for grazing sheep. Our little farm is surrounded by a creek, lots of trees and therefore has a healthy interwoven relationship of farm and forest. We love our wild birds, salamanders, bugs and natural ecosystem, so we don't use any synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, Ever! We rotate and grow cover crops to enrich and add nutrients to our soil. ![]() Mama Bird is a 6 acre ethically minded farm nested in the center of San Juan Island. ![]()
